Mpho Khunou, conducted public hearings throughout the province on the North West Gambling Act Amendment Bill, 2025 and the North West Consumer Affairs Bill, 2025 at Makgobistad Community Hall in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District, Ga-Mogopa Community Hall in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District, Reivelo Community Hall in the Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District and Mantserre Community Hall in Bojanala District at 10h00.
North West Gambling Act Amendment Bill, 2025 seeks To amend the North West Gambling Act, 2001, as amended, so as to effect textual amendments; insert new definitions; amend certain definitions, to make provision for the North West Gambling and Betting Taxes Act; align the Act to the National Gambling Act, 2004 as amended; provide for the powers of inspectors; introduce administrative inspection warrants for legislative enforcement purposes and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
the North West Consumer Affairs Bill, 2025 aims To provide the realization, promotion and protection of consumer rights in North West Province; to provide for the establishment of the North West Consumer Affairs Office; to determine the objects, powers, duties and functions of the North west Consumer Affairs Office; to provide for the investigation and facilitation mechanism for mediation of consumer disputes, provide for monitoring of consumer market; to provide for the establishment of the North West Consumer Affairs Tribunal; to determine the objects, powers, duties and functions of the North West Consumer Affairs Tribunal; and to provide for matters incidental thereto in the North West Province.
